Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've planned ahead. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Irissarry vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, pack your passport, travel docs, wallet and vital medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling book and a tablet crammed with your favorite shows are good options. If you hope to take a short nap, a comfy neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you hop off the plane looking fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, drills, fuel and fireworks. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and objects that could harm other people, such as swords and guns, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and bring a jacket in case it gets chilly in the cabin. Always opt for roomy, flat shoes as your feet may swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your main luggage.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression socks and tights are another easy way to help minimize this risk.
