Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well prepared. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Johnson's Crossing vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, put in your passport, travel docs, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a phone crammed with your favorite shows are some great options. If you plan to take a short snooze, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also be useful. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll arrive looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The answer to a comfortable flight is often as simple as your choice of clothing. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin begins to cool down. Shoes like flip flops and heels are best left in your suitcase. Even though they may be your favorites, opt for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will appreciate it.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long-haul is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to wander around the cabin. Compression socks and tights are another great idea to help reduce this risk.
