Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Lerwick vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack your passport, travel documents, credit cards and vital medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling book and a laptop crammed with your favorite movies are always good options. If you intend to catch up on some sleep, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll touchdown looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Choose slip-on footwear, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to take a sweater in case you get cold in the cabin.
- You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To minimize your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your lower limbs often.
