No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Lobitsch escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a comfortable experience if you take the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, leave space in your bag for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and maybe a neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fireworks, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and remember to bring a pullover in case it gets cool. Always go with flat, slightly roomy shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the flight. Leave the stilettos and heavy boots in your checked baggage.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises in your seat helps to prevent this occurring. Wearing a good pair of compression tights or socks is also recommended.
