Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've planned ahead. Follow these handy travel tips that will help get your Marendu escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a great experience if you've got all the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare pair of socks and something to read. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, your medications and maybe a neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of your airplane are no fashion runway. Layer up with comfy clothing and don't forget to bring a cardigan as it can get chilly in the cabin. Slightly roomy, flat shoes are also recommended.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this from happening, make the most of every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression socks and tights are another simple way to help minimize this risk.
