No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy tips that will get your Masarwa escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you've got all the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh set of clothes and a good read. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Lastly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) lurking in the bottom of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include explosive or flammable goods, such as aerosol cans and fuel, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to feel as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in natural fibers and bring a pullover in case it gets chilly in the cabin. Go for a pair of flat, well-fitting shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the stilettos and chunky boots in your luggage.
- The serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Doing foot and leg exercises in your seat helps to prevent this from happening. Wearing a good pair of compression socks or tights is also a wise idea.
