Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well prepared. We've made a list of handy tips that will help get your Mechtshausen escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a cruisy experience if you pack the right gear. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and a good book. Secondly, find room in your carry-on bag for your laptop, a charger, medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) hiding in your hand luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The best way to ensure a comfortable flight often lies in the clothes you wear. Prepare yourself for varying temperatures by bringing layers. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin gets chilly. Shoes like flip flops and heels are best left for other occasions. Instead, opt for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will thank you for it.
- The serious condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation. Doing leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a pair of compression tights or socks also helps reduce the risk.
