Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Mensa could be a breeze or it could go on forever. We've compiled some handy hints that will help you start your next great adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First of all, put in your passport, travel documents, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll need some entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a laptop crammed with your favorite shows are some wonderful options. If you hope to take a short snooze, a quality neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll arrive looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and strong acids, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and go for shoes that are roomy, flat and easy to take on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
