No matter where you’re coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you prepare well enough. We’ve put together a list of top travel tips that will help get your Otta vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It’s easy — first, pack your passport, travel docs, credit cards and vital medications. Next, you’ll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a tablet crammed with your favorite shows are some fantastic options. If you intend to catch forty winks, a comfy neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you’ll arrive at your destination looking fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and gasoline, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Layer up in breathable clothing and take a pullover in case it gets chilly in the cabin. Pick a pair of roomy, flat shoes as your feet may swell during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your checked baggage.
- A serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It’s the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking around the cabin and doing regular foot and leg exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this happening. Wearing a quality pair of compression socks can also help.
