Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will get your Ponches-Estruval escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you've got all the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your electronic gadgets, chargers, your medications and maybe a cozy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between air carriers, the general rule to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, blades, fuel and fireworks. Sports equipment like baseball bats, and objects that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Dress in loose, breathable clothing and pack a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin. Opt for a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and chunky boots in your checked baggage.
- The result of sustained periods of immobility, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a blood clot condition that can affect passengers during long flights. The great news is there are ways to lower your risk of developing it. Keep your fluids up, walk around the cabin as much as you can and wear compression socks or tights.
