- The secret to having a hassle-free flight experience is to pack ahead. Start with the essentials: passport, travel documents, cash and vital medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help pass the time, like some electronic gadgets or a juicy novel. It's also smart to bring your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones. And of course, don't forget to toss in toiletry items like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a fresh change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have a Swiss Army knife lurking in one of the compartments of your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in breathable clothing and remember to pack a jacket in case it gets chilly in the cabin. Pick flat, well-fitting shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the stilettos and hiking boots in your main luggage.
- Most travelers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There's lots you can do to lessen your risk. Wear a quality pair of compression socks or tights, drink lots of water and get your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or perform exercises in your seat.
