If you're not prepared, airports and flying can be a real challenge. But there's no need to panic. Follow these handy hints for a stress-free start to your time in Ris.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a great experience if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a fresh set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, medications and maybe a cozy neck pillow as well. Lastly, be sure to bring your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The best way to ensure a comfortable flight is as simple as your choice of clothing. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin gets too cold. Shoes like stilettos, flip flops and lace-up boots are best left in your checked suitcase. Instead, opt for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will thank you for it.
- The condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing foot and leg exercises in your seat helps to prevent this from happening. Wearing a pair of compression socks can also help.
