Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Rome could be no sweat at all or it could go on forever. We've rounded up some handy travel tips that will help you start your next great adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's simple — first, put in your passport, important documents, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling book and a tablet crammed with your favorite movies are some fantastic options. If you hope to catch a few z's, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes to ensure you touchdown looking fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like a pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main priority is to be as comfortable as you can. Opt for a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and don't forget to bring a pullover in case you get cold in the cabin.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
