• A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you bring the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a good read. What to wear on a flight:

• Choose comfort over style. Prepare for changes in cabin temperature by dressing in layers, and wear flat, easy-to-remove footwear like slip-ons.
• You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To lessen your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression tights or socks and keep your feet and legs moving.

The trick is to be prepared before you arrive at the security gate. That way, you'll be stepping onto that plane to Sears before you know it. Follow these tips and get your trip off to a spectacular start:

• Your boarding pass and travel ID will need to be presented to security personnel. Keep them someplace accessible so you don't hold up the queue.
