No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of handy tips that will help get your Stolbishche vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a comfortable experience if you take the right stuff. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a fresh set of clothes and something to read. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, your medications and perhaps a cozy neck pillow as well. Lastly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to feel as comfortable as possible. Dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to bring a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin. Always opt for flat, slightly roomy shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your main luggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help minimize this risk.
