No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you prepare well enough. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Viking vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a pain-free travel experience is to plan ahead. So, let's start with the essentials: passport, travel documents, credit cards and important medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help pass the time, like your laptop or a good book. It's also smart to bring your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earphones. Last but not least, don't forget to squeeze in toiletries like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and pick shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to slip on and off.
- The result of lengthy periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect passengers on long-haul flights. Lower your risks by staying hydrated, keeping your ankles and legs moving and wearing compression socks to help your circulation.
