We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey as pain-free as possible. Follow our top tips and you'll be cruising through airport security and enjoying Virginia Dale in next to no time. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be easy if you pack the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a clean set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, your important medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow too. Lastly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and matches, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your priority when choosing what to wear on your flight. Loose clothing is a sensible option, as are flat, enclosed shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
