"Absolutely loved our stay here. It's a former palace and the room was huge with a wonderful patio. They had a excellent breakfast, the staff was awesome (shout out to Martina and Paolo). Would stay again in a second. The city is very walkable and Martina and Paolo were incredibly helpful with restaurants and sights. We did not want to leave."

The owner went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout our stay. He even provided directions to a delightful local restaurant nearby, where the food was exceptional. "I chose the Excelsior for its proximity to the train station, as I was arriving and leaving by train and also did an excursion by train to the Certosa nearby (which I highly recommend). It also was close enough to all of the other sights to be walkable. The room was spotlessly clean. Also, the city map provided by the hotel was excellent! Tourist maps often do not label all streets, or use printing so small that they are not user-friendly, but this one was great."

"Staff was kind , helpful and outgoing Breakfast was minimal for the price of a nights stay compared to other accommodations we visited. I would suggest adding bedside lighting. In addition, one ceiling light was positioned in front of the tv , which was positioned very high on the wall. When you watched tv you had to turn the light off , but then there were no other lights on except a bathroom light. I would add a second chair to a room made for two people.
