The room was great- loved the nightly delivery of water chocolates and that adorable teddy bear :) staff was so attentive friendly kind and helpful. Thank you for a great stay -location was also easy from airport and wonderful for the convenience of Hasley Park/gardens.

Return visit after 35 years ! It has gone a bit more upmarket but overall had not changed much . Still very comfortable, clean and convenient for everything beautiful Christchurch has to offer. Loved George the bear who went on to travel all over New Zealand for 3 month with us . Hope to be back before the next 35 years !

Room was clean but not quiet, and we expected a bigger menu in Bistro 50. Also couldn't get really cold water from tap in our bathroom, due to its position against the mirror. On the positive side, staff couldn't have performed better, everyone was willing and thoroughly pleasant to deal with.

Excellent service

We had planned to drop off our bags at the hotel and go for a walk before 11am. However, the weather wasn’t kind, so we waited in the lobby. We didn’t expect to check in so early, but the hotel kindly offered us a room. While we were waiting, they provided us with complimentary coffee and tea. It was such a kind gesture and excellent service. Thank you very much—we really enjoyed our stay at The George Hotel.

Great place to stay while in Christchurch! Staff is friendly and very responsive. Accidentally left an item in the room - got in touch with the hotel and they got everything lined up for me to get it picked up and followed up multiple times to make sure everything was good. The rooms are clean, well maintained, and the hotel is conveniently located close to the Riverside Market, and other attractions.

Highly recommend this hotel, it was five star but not stuffy. We had a suite, very spacious, bedding real comfortable. Park across the street and you are within walking distance to the tram and restaurants. The bar and restaurant a little dated but very comfortable and staff is great!
