What an amazing place! The owners took such good care of us. The property is rustic and beautiful. The birds in the area are really neat. I highly recommend staying at Hacienda San Lucas.

Great stay in a wonderful historic property

Staying aat this special, unique place made our visit to Copan much more memorable. Getting to see beautiful birds on the nice grounds, eating the delicious food served at the restaurant, enjoying a drink on the huge patio overlooking the river -- all in the historic hacienda atmosphere. Really fabulous stay. It's worth the small hassle of a 5 minute tuk tuk ride into town.

Beyond our expectations.

Beyond our expectations. Hacienda San Lucus is tucked away up in the forest, overlooking the Copan Ruins. The staff members are truly a special part of the Hacienda. So very friendly. The rooms are delightful and spacious with hammocks on the patio. The food is delicious. At the lower end of the property is a multi-level patio allowing us to enjoy views of the valley and sunset. The patio bar serves a fantastic mojito. More than a few Mojitos were enjoyed on our trip. Morning coffee with the macaws in the trees overhead was a highlight. The hotel helped arrange a guide at the Copan Ruins, who was amazing. They also arranged a horse riding excursion to a local village. The local Tok Toks are a fun and easy way to get into town. The hotel directed us to an amazing chocolate restaurant. We plan on staying at Hacienda San Lucis every time we are in Copan. We loved it.

The hotel is in beautiful grounds that are filled with birds and the atmosphere was lovely. However, the walls between the rooms are paper thin - you can hear people in the next room using the toilet - so it doesn't feel very private! The shower was also very poor with terrible pressure and on our second night the water was only barely lukewarm rather than hot. The first night we had a lovely dinner and our food came really quickly (chicken with lorcan and chicken with giner). It was so good that the next night we decided to go for the candellight dinner (starter, main, dessert, fruit juice and coffee). However, this was a mistake...the service was very slow and the food was much less good - maybe this was just bad menu choices (tamales, beef fahitas and pineapple and rum cake). The promised fruit juice never arrived and we had to ask for coffee at the end...which they then tried to charge us extra for. The included breakfast was ok - a small choice of hot dishes in the local style, but it doesn't include any fruit or juice or anything like that - you have to pay extra for that.

Every detail of this property was created with love. We were there for a short stay and arrived late. The staff was still more than happy to give us a flashlight tour of the Jungle and the famous "Los Sapos". The food, service, and views were breath taking!

Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, the staff was always on point. The place is gorgeous, peaceful and quiet. I did get a great night sleep in the room, had a nice bond fire that the staff prepared. The food impeccable, simply amazing.

Beautiful property but far from town but easy to get Tuk Tuk to drive you there. They were good at arranging tours, horseback rides but no TV in room if you didn’t want to go out. But internet was fast so able to watch Netflix. Menu very limited, so need to go to city to eat, so great restaurants there and very safe at night. You can get a personal TukTuk driver for the whole day or night for the cost on 1 taxi in the US! They had A/C in the rooms which was great! They do laundry very cheap! Was a lovely place to stay!
