The Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa

6/10 Okay

"We stayed for one night. The hotel grounds were beautiful and well maintained, and our room was spacious, although the décor felt tired and in need of updating. The biggest issue was room service. The welcome book said orders had to be placed at reception, so I queued there, only to be sent to the bar. The staff member at the bar didn't know how to process room service orders, which I didn't mind, but then suggested I return to reception. After explaining I'd been sent from there, a supervisor finally took my order. What frustrated me was being sent from one place to another, wasting time, only to discover reception could likely have taken the order all along. The food was tasty, but £18 for a burger and chips felt excessive, and it arrived without cutlery. The next morning, my husband was unwell and had barely slept. I asked for a late checkout but was refused despite explaining the circumstances. The taxi numbers in the guest book were largely useless, and when we called reception for help, they simply referred us back to the same list. Lovely setting, but poor communication and disappointing service."

"Room and ensuite were clean and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was missing anywhere (hooks, rails) to hang towels. Access to the room required remote advice (email but no staff contact) on how to locate a lock box and the door key. Parking was available at a pay and display car park next to the property, The pay machine was out of operation during my stay, which caused some inconvenience in paying for my 2 nights overnight parking period. It appeared that the facility also operated as a pub or location for gatherings, since both evenings there was music and loud group conversations from the large room(s) below my room. The insulation was inadequate to muffle these sounds!"

"Staff were really nice and the hotel itself was good, nice rooms and the grounds were good to walk around. Food at the restaurant was okay but a bit expensive and not the best veggie options. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere however, so hard to get public transport and taxis were quite pricey!"

"Breakfast staff deserve a medal coping with the understaffing. The orange juice is just squash. Nice poached egg available if you ask though. Good sausage and mushrooms. too. The waiting staff are lovely unlike the cold, unfriendly receptionists who should work at a GP’s! The grounds were picturesque and the pool okay if a bit too warm in the heatwave. Room 17 is tiny but it was clean. The noise from the boiler outside was unpleasant as was the non-existent view. Hit and miss but good value if you join Radisson and get free use of the pool. Avoid Room 17 though it is a bit of a walk and noisy."

"Our room was clean and comfy The staff could not do enough for you they were all very friendly and happy, we ate at the yak and yeti three nights in a row as the food was absolutely delicious the flavours were out of this world there was alot of choice on the menu too, they had a really nice sun terrace to enjoy a drink, food or just to chill, they had a car park for the duration of your stay Breakfast was a full english which i can honestly say kept you full until your evening meal , we did not get a chance to say goodbye to the staff but wanted to say thank you to each and everyone of them for making our stay just perfect"
