"We really enjoyed Secrets La Romana! The grounds are lush, beautiful and exceptionally clean, from the pools to the public restrooms. Most staff were warm and helpful. When my bracelet broke in a restaurant, several employees even moved tables to help find it.
Special thanks to the reception team for helping wrap our damaged luggage and quickly resolving an issue with our airport transfer.
The entertainment was fantastic, with yoga, Zumba, pool activities and evening shows. The entertainment team brought so much energy, dancing, laughing and making everyone feel welcome.
The beach is gorgeous, with clear water and plenty of space, though watch for sea urchins farther out. We also loved access to both the adults-only Secrets property and family-friendly Dreams, which offers plenty of activities for children.
We recommend Preferred Club for the à la carte breakfasts and dinners, which we enjoyed more than the buffet. Overall, the food was decent, but below our expectations for a five-star resort. Some dishes were too salty or overcooked, buffet presentation could improve, and restaurant service was sometimes slow.
Our sunny third-floor room was clean, although the bathroom had a slight musty smell. A first-floor room we visited had a stronger smell, so the experience may vary by room.
