Incredible staff who were so welcoming and hard working, the Retreat itself is stunning. I had an upstairs bedroom so was able to fully enjoy the surroundings. The food was incredible. I felt super safe. I didnโt want to leave.
A must visit - and please do as the Sri Lankan people need visitors right now. โ
โBeautiful hotel with stunning views. The staff were attentive and the food was delicious. There was so much to do - yoga, meditation, beach, pool, painting, pottery, movies etc. We were sad we could only stay for 2 nights!โ
โMy family enjoyed the beach. Looks like private beach. My son said he also said he was happy. Food was good. I had a pizza and Sri Lanka curry for room service. Staffs were kind to us. We had enjoyed and relexed at the resort.โ

โWe had amazing stay at Ubuntu. From manager to housekeeping all staffs were helpful. This place puts customer service above all. Shout out to Vishaw, Indika and kitchen staff for going above and beyond.
Besides great staff, hotel is located at quaint beach where you can spot turtles at night. They even had baby turtle releasing event in the evening.
Overall I highly recommend this boutique hotel. We had great experience. โ

โStayed for two weeks in September 2023. For starters, the host family at Talalla Freedom are wonderful. Helpful, friendly, adjusted to my food allergies, went over and beyond. Rs 250 for a pot of fresh tea. The pool is lovely and well kept, the view and access to Talalla beach is phenomenal (as long as you don't have any mobility issues. Beds are Sri Lanka firm but comfy. You can sit in a nice recliner with your tea and watch the monkeys walk by. The birds in the area are beautiful. Be aware...

โThe place is difficult to find, after booking they should send an email with a map to get there. The room is basic but clean. Good size room and bathroom. There is a fan but not a/c and during the night it is quite hot. Only cold water. There is a mosquito net but it is too short so mosquitoes get in the sleeping area. โThe staff here are amazing!! Helpful, friendly and really put the effort in, was lovely to stay over Sri Lankan Newyear (14th April) they put on dancers, drummers, traditional games, food, drink.The pool was huge and the breakfast was great โ
