"On the outside a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Inside it is an old property and not up to date ie no usb points to charge phones etc without a plug. However one of the reception staff kindly lent us one to charge our phones. The furniture in the bedroom was scuffed and the room was not cleaned/ bins emptied/ beds made up etc during our entire stay (4nights). Had to ask for clean towels as only 2 bath towels in bathroom. Breakfast was adequate but we have had as good in a premier inn. On our final night we had to evacuate due to fire alarm going off at 3.30am. Luckily we had our car in which to sit for over an hour once we had been checked off on the register, and it was a dry night & our heated seats kept us warm. Handy hotel to stay in if visiting the Great Yorkshire show and the Emmerdale tour and York is also close by with its fabulous designer outlet to the south of York meaning you don’t actually have to go into the city."
