Symonds Yat panorama
#lksawaydays 5b/2020/ After a stroll around the charming town of Ludlow our plan was to stretch our legs on one of the Symonds Yat Rock Trails. The drive back south took us about an hour and by now the weather had deteriorated but not enough to put us off. After a final sharp right turn we arrived at the large car park set in the woods, the viewpoint and trails are free but there is car park charge, we paid £4.80 for a 5 hour stay. As first time visitors to Symonds Yat we decided to head to the viewpoint first and then tackle one of the trails. Symonds Yat sits inside the Wye Valley in Herefordshire just a stones throw from the Gloucestershire border. Once you reach the viewpoint you will see a truly visual spectacle as the River Wye winds itself through the gorge. It’s definitely worth revisiting on a spring sunny day. Next up was to tackle one of the trails, we opted out of the 17km ramble as today was not that day but worthy of our time later in the year, we settled on the 2.8 mile trial. The other trails look fab and on one you have to use a hand ferry to cross the river! #lksawaydays gives Symonds Yat Rock a 👍 Not many pictures taken as the weather was generally bleak so we just enjoyed the walk.

Great views overlooking the #river #wye , the #autumnal colours are starting to show through now. This scene is enormous, i tried to shoot this on a full frame camera with a 17mm focal length and i could still not get it all in, so i set up and leveled my tripod, this is a five shot panorama shot in vertical orientation.

Impressive facilities, decent restaurant serving very good meals, buffet breakfast was of good quality with plenty of options. Some minor decor and cleanliness issues in the en-suite.

I was very underwhelmed by this hotel. We just ate in the bar and my pizza was covered in garlic mayonnaise which was disgusting to be honest. Check-in was early, which I appreciated. However, the room fell well below expectations: it had no window, a damp smell, no hot water, and felt very run-down. It also didn’t feel clean, and there were no hooks in the bathroom for towels. Overall, I would not recommend the Stables.
