A beautiful stay in the Black Forest mountains

This is a lovely little family run hotel in the high Black Forest. The owners were very accommodating, even offering to cook for us on the first night despite it being the one night a week when the restaurant is closed. The hotel owners only took over in December 2024 and are working hard to improve an already lovely place. The breakfast spread was lovely, lots of fresh and delicious food. In the evening the menu is lots of traditional mountain food, again all delicious. The hotel is a ski hotel in the winter, but in the summer when we went it is a great place for family walks up the high peaks of the Black Forest including Seebuck, Feldburg and Herzogenhorn. It is also just a short drive down the hill to Titisee if you want to enjoy the pleasures of the lake or the enormous indoor waterpark. Overall it is a great spot for a few days of mountain peace and beauty. Eating breakfast whilst looking out across the cows on the hill outside eating theirs is a great way to start the day.

Polite host but I feel let down

The rooms are good size and clean. The host is nice, polite, and helpful. However, the facilities in the room are very basic - no toiletry, no drinking water, not even a kettle and a cup. It says on the hotel description that it offers breakfast. We went to the breakfast room and were only told that since they don't have many guests that day so the owner is not there to cook breakfast. The nearest place to have a bit of breakfast is 20 mins drive away. I have a 2 year old and old people with me. I felt quite let down. If you are not ready to serve your guests, maybe you should not choose to open the hotel during quiet time - we felt we are being punished for it.

Die Zimmer sind zwar etwas in die Jahre gekommen, jedoch sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und sauber. Wir hatten einen herrlichen Ausblick auf die Skipiste. Die Besitzer sind außergewöhnlich freundlich und zuvorkommend. Late Check out war ohne weiteres möglich. Wir werden nächstes Jahr wiederkommen.

Wir waren zu einem Kurzaufenthalt von einer Nacht im Hotel. Am Abend waren wir essen und zufrieden mit den Gerichten (Burger, Pommes und Schnitzel). Das Frühstück am Morgen war sehr lecker und vollkommen ausreichend (3 Müsli, Käse, Wurst, Joghurt, Milch, Säfte, Kaffee, Kakao, Brötchen, Laugengebäck, Obst, ...). Insgesamt ein netter Aufenthalt, die Kinderfreudlichkeit möchten wir hervorheben.

Correcto y bien situado. Entorno incomparable.

Más que un hotel lo definiría como un albergue de montaña. Ideal para base como esquí o excursiones. Las habitaciones son correctas para un 2 estrellas, y están limpias. Los baños son antiguos pero limpios. Los acabados del hotel son modestos pero suficiente para gente que quiere esquiar o como campo base para rutas de senderismo. En verano poco ambiente pero se nota que es una estacion invernal. Tiene una pequeña boutique de productos locales y un bar-restaurant que da servicio al hotel. Creo que es un negocio familiar y el trato es correcto.

Urig gemütliches Hotel super auch für Familien.

Urig gemütliches Hotel. Sehr sauber. Mit leckerem Frühstück. Für die Kinder gab es zwei Schafe im Garten zu bestaunen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Great location, odd layout

Our "Basic double room" was pretty cramped. Tiny sink with no soap in the WC, with full sink and soap just about a meter from the very creaky bed. Odd layout and not the most comfortable room we've ever stayed in, BUT if you had a larger room, it would be better. It's clean and the staff are helpful. The location is good, with a ski school downstairs and slopes right outside the door. The restaurant in the hotel serves tasty food for all 3 meals. Wifi is good and you get the very useful Hochschwarzwald card!

Hotel is very unique. The staff were very hospitable. We were on third floor had view of snow tipped mountain tops and ski lift. The restaurant downstairs is rustic and homey. Hotel is about a 30 drive from Hinterzarten if you are planning a trip to Ravenna Gorge Christmas Market. It was late when we arrived staff said whatever we wanted to eat they would make for us, they were genuine and wanted to make sure our visit was comfortable. Very happy with our stay here.
