A lone Bactrian camel wandering the sand dunes. Mongolia is home to the world's largest population of these two-humped camels, however, most are domesticated nowadays. Only 800 wild camels remain - largely in the harsh, foreboding lands of the Gobi Desert - with other populations in China bringing that number to roughly 1,400 camels worldwide. The main threat facing this critically endangered species today is illegal hunting for meat. #adventure #mongolia #camel #asia
