"Gorgeous lodge near Kruger with a pottery workshop on site. Bring your own dinner and you can relax around the fire at night and listen to the hyenas. Excellent breakfast and one morning an elephant appeared at the pond. Great service, lovely pool and friendly staff. If you are lucky the architect - Tom- May tell you the history of this beautiful spot. Our favourite in 2 months. "

"Shindzela offers the type of safari experience that is sadly dying out, to be replaced by glitzy, costly options that separate visitors from the real bush. Our guide was excellent; calm & professional even when another group was shrieking and whooping (TIP, wild animals prefer quiet). Our tracker was keen-eyed, polite and focussed. The cooking/cleaning staff clearly took pride in their work. I feel Shindzela is excellent value for money and should form a part of many more travellers' trips....

"Property was nice and relaxing; the Elephants at the pool were amazing. Food was good but a menu should be provided at dinner given you order your main course at lunch, and by dinner time you have forgotten what each course is. A couple of times I didn't like the dessert, and if I had had a menu I would have realized and not had the dessert, and therefore not wasted food. Housekeeping may need to be more diligent with the mosquito net as it's opened while guests are out on their morning game...

"It was a nice hotel, not too big, close to one entrance to the park. The food was good. Trees were beautiful. One can see elephants and other animals from the pool bar. The main problem is that their safaris, or park tours, are too expensive, much more expensive than those organized by the park. But the vehicles are confortable, and drivers nice and helpful."
