"Aesthetically absolutely beautifully designed interior, however not so functional. We stayed over the new year so it was cold/dry weather so we wish they had humidifiers. The beds are extremely comfortable unlike the beds at the major hotels so we were able to get rest well to recover from 13 hours flight. Unfortunately unlike other guests, we didn't get response from the owner quickly. We got a response 3 days after we checked out which was not a big deal anyway. "

"We had a really lovely time here, and it was a perfect retreat after the busy atmosphere of Tokyo! The atmosphere of Hakodate is reminiscent of places like the Oregon Coast and Fairbanks, Alaska, that is, a slow-paced town in a cool climate with wonderful museums and historical sites related to indigenous community (in this case, the Ainu and other neighboring cultures) and a strong connection to the sea. "Yah, the glowing online reviews are pretty accurate. The breakfast at this place surpasses the ones in Vegas easily. Ample seafood including ikura, sake, champagne.. it was bonkers. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen, especially the outdoor Bossanova lounge. Was surreal to see steam rising from the bathes while you gazed at the stars above in the night sky. Probably the only con is that the buffet was so awesome there really wasn’t a point to eat at the stellar Hakodate morning market, which is a very first world problem! I’ve already heartily recommended this place to my friends and family."

"My sister recommended to stay this hotel. The location of the hotel was excellent and the cost was reasonable. The breakfast was average as a business hotel. If arrange the tables in the cafeteria with plenty of space between them, it was easier to get around. There were too few AC outlets in the room. I could not recharge a cellphone, a power pack, and a computer at the same time. It was convenient to be able to leave my luggage for free after checking out."

"Pretty central, not far from the JR rail station and the tram line, and there's a good supermarket almost next door. The amenities are very recently installed, so all very tidy, modern, clean and in good working order. The vista (street view) from the window was better than what I usually get at other Japanese hotels, often just a wall from an adjacent building. The laundry machines can't handle several kilos, so it took some cycles to get them properly dry, several trips from my room to the laundry. The breakfast of egg, potato salad and garnishings is minimalist and the dining area a bit cavernous, but there's plenty of toast if one wants to make more. The breakfast lady in charge is a bit huffy, being alone to handle everyone, so I forgive her, since I myself had to fend for myself at work in my younger years. I also needed an early cab for an early flight, so I had the front desk book it days ahead. The desk clerk by the name Hoshimoto was very helpful in that request, anticipating my needs, speaking good English, taking note that I would be away for 2 days in Furano and then returning for 1 more night at this very same hotel. To my pleasant surprise when back from Furano, he remembered details of my request as the day of the cab neared. Overall, a good hotel if you want a basic, fuss-free, clean place near the JR station."
