“Friendly staff, comfortable bed, nothing special but a reasonable place to stay for a reasonable price. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re a light sleeper or a princess but we enjoyed our stay. ”

“We checked in late at 10pm on a Friday. The air conditioning unit did not work in Room 11. The room was very hot. We were too tired to go and request a different room. We opened the windows and made do. They were accomodating with late check out and were very friendly. Other than the heat/AC issue, it was a great stay. Comfortable beds and clean. ”

“No wifi access - no drinking water - Furniture was all beat up - bathroom sink and tub was worn and grungy. Outside the room the property was messy with dead leaves etc. no view at all.”

“I do not recommend staying there. Our room smelled so strongly of cigarettes and the bathroom stunk of mold which you could clearly see all around the tub/shower too. The outside of the motel had a room with caution tape taping it off. Police were rolling in to check on people who were obviously living there. I did not feel safe and as soon as we woke up we left immediately. ”

“Booked two rooms, was put in 2 accessible rooms despite not booking that room type, plus the 'folding' bench in the shower was broken in both rooms and separating from the tub leaving screws exposed. Mentioned both to front desk, only one was fixed. Plus shower heads were about mid-torso height, not ideal positioning with no where to move the shower head wand to place it higher. Both rooms had phantom noises both nights leading to broken sleep, there appears to be zero insulation to hallway...

“Hotel was totally full with families for a soccer tournament. Very busy but the staff managed it all well. There was even a water bottle refill station full of Gatorade. Our child loved the pool facilities. Our room was clean and a good setup for a family. Really appreciated that it was pet friendly too. Nice they include a breakfast into the price with hot food options. Great place to stay for families. Good value overall and I’d stay there again.”

“We were placed on the third floor, elevator only goes up to the 2nd floor so we need to carry all our luggages up to the third floor. lovely breakfast, offer coffee and water ”

“The Cottage and Castle is absolutely charming, beautifully decorated and situated in a lovely neighborhood of colourfully painted houses and As well it is anIt’s a real gem. However as we returned after an evening out the stench in the air from a soil, composting, wastewater and recycling treatment plant was overwhelming. I there is a solution to this as Chemainus is a charming town and the Cottage and Castle was exceptional! ”
