"Hotel staff were surprised when I checked in as a single female and after seeing the room I realised why. The lock on the door had been broken and was not fixed, the windows on a first floor room did not close - this meant the room was 40 degrees Celsius and raised security concerns. There was a mysterious door in the room that led to a balcony guests could not access and the bathroom had not been cleaned after someone had used the toilet. This is not the safe 4 star hotel I was expecting. "
"More than in other countries in Africa, hotel prices in Nigeria and hotel quality, i.e. room functionality and service, seem to be uncorrelated. It is, therefore, an art to find an acceptable-priced hotel with acceptable quality, instead of ending up in a terrible one with a high price tag.
