Very comfortable hotel at the bottom of a BIG hill. It may be 10 minute walk to Sultanemet Sq. but that is all up hill. I was suffering from an injury and that hill was no joy. Can't blame the hotel but I did NOT like that hill. Hotel is convenient to many restaurants and small shops that do not require the climb. Hotel staff was helpful. I would stay again (when recovered from injury).

Room was perfectly clean, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. But the gent who was working reception on my first night was incredible, I showed up way past 10pm and he was more than happy to show me round to the kebab shop he recommended. Then the following morning he saw me walking up the hill and joined me to show me up to the palace and the blue mosque (which is only 5 minutes up the road). I had a fantastic stay thanks to him, I can’t recommend this hotel enough.

The Ipekyolu Hotel was a budget choice and as such, it fit the bill. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and very conveniently located. The staff couldn’t have been nicer! We loved our time in Istanbul and would love to return.

Initially booked for 2 nights. Nice little hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms. Our flight got cancelled and the hotel was able to extended our stay 1 more night. Prepaid taxi service to IST was really nice: right on time, and the rate was actually lower compare to what Bitaksi app showed. A couple small restaurants right next door.

I am currently somewhat mobility impaired because of a recent injury. If you are fully mobile ignore the next paragraph. Note that the hotel, while horizontally very close to Sultanahmet Sq it is quite a climb to GET to the square. Several convenient restaurants within a couple hundred meters and a whole BUNCH (with shopping) after you climb the hill. My understanding is that some of the finest seafood restaurants in Istanbul are within walking distance down the hill. Cabs are reluctant to take you back to the hotel but Istanbul taxis are a weird bunch. The hotel staff, although somewhat lacking in English, are extremely obliging and do their best to oblige requests. The hotel is a good buy for the money and (if I become more mobile) I will stay there again. Again, my room (and the hotel) was clean and quiet.

The hotel is located in the heart of the old city with less than a 5 minute walk up a small hill to the Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. It is located next to a Korean Restaurant and on the other side the building has been torn down so that makes the front look a bit unsightly. The manager (his name is Sahin) was wonderful and extremely helpful. The included breakfast was good with some seasonal offerings. The hotel has an elevator that works great (although it is small). The room was clean. They had a single small blanket to cover with but that was more than adequate and the AC worked fine. It is not a five star hotel and maybe not even a 4 but I rated it high because of Sahin and the location and the price. I would not hesitate to stay here again. For those looking for an affordable but nice option close to the old city. It is also a very short walk to the water and there is a tram stop just across the street. the only complaint might be the bathroom as the shower water drained very slowly and there is a lip to step up and over to get to the bathroom and it was easy to trip over especially at night. The room had a safe and a refrigerator. There was also a TV in the room which we couldn't figure out how to make it work (I think the remote batteries were dead) but we weren't interested in watching TV with so much history around us. I see in the photo there is a balcony you can look out on the water but we never accessed that or were told whether we could.

The location was perfect. The staffs were vey helpful and friendly. The breakfast was above average but not many options available. The hotel was not well organized in providing services such as cleaning and changing bedsheets. They do not have standard guest services with many amenities. For example, our room has TV but no channel services were active. The fridge was not that cold. It was like a small hotel with standard on demand services.
