"The towel had not been changed.
I requested a change but received no response.
I asked again and it was eventually changed.
There were numerous gaps around the balcony door, allowing mosquitoes to enter the room.
I requested mosquito repellent and received it, but it proved ineffective.
Even whilst sleeping, mosquitoes flew around my face, causing discomfort.
Access to the beach was poor."
"The room was very clean and the staff were all very helpful. The hotel is luxurious. Two beautiful pools and very good food. The views are stunning over the ocean. The beach is not suitable for swimming due to heavy surf and a strong side current but Talpe beach a 1.5k walk or tuk-tuk away has a safe beach behind a reef. "
"Helpful staff. Huge family room, more like an apartment, which opened right onto pool. Walk to jungle beach and peace pagoda. The staff put on a beautiful Christmas morning breakfast as well."
"We loved staying here, we extended our stay by nearly a week! The rooms are clean and comfortable. The view of the ocean is fantastic, and I've never seen such beautiful sunsets. The kitchen was simple, but had everything we needed. The staff and owners were lovely. I want to thank Sandy specifically because when my partner injured her foot, Sandy helped tremendously. She brought some aloe plants from her home and helped us apply it. She is such a genuinely kind person.
The only drawback is that the Internet was a little spotty. But that's true for most of Sri Lanka it seems. "
"The staff went above and beyond. It was my girlfriends 30th birthday and while I was in the UK they helped to get things organised and things didn’t change once we got here. The best treatment, I could see the staff did this across the board for everyone at the hotel. They really couldn’t have helped more if they tried, from the manager, to the reception staff, bar staff and everybody else.
Very pretty, warm welcoming and a overall amazing stay in a beautiful setting. A perfect hub for if you are basing yourself in Unawatuna.

"Nice stay, the luxury chalet is so lovely. The staff were nice enough, breakfast was fine. There are a lot of ants however in the rooms. It also would’ve been nice to know prior to our stay that there was construction going on to build a lift. The stairs are certainly not for the faint hearted. The pool area was nice but other than that the hotel amenities are limited. "
"It was a nice stay and the view from the room was beautiful. The breakfast was great but the staff who served needs more training as they were rushing to serve us while we were having food."
"Stayed here many time. Staff amazing and place really beautiful. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Unawatuna. Good Wi-Fi in communal areas (doesn’t quite reach all rooms). The eco friendly question hotels.com asks is difficult to answer. They give lots of bottled water, which I guess isn’t very eco-friendly - but that is what tourists want. I guess maybe if they had a large central water dispenser people could refill bottles for that would reduce plastic use. I think some tourists might complain though. It is a difficult issue for a Sri Lankan hotel "
