It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. God hotel og god service.

Hotel Senani har et meget venligt personale. God buffe/mad og god service. Der er pool og en hyggelig stemning. Pænt og rent. Der er mulighed for en drinks eller en kold øl i baren/restauranten. Dog kunne der godt bruges et par stole på balkonen til værelset. Der er mulighed for at se aber af og til ude på nabotaget. Der flyver flagermus rund om aftenen, man kan se dem fra restauranten.

Monkey hotel.

Worn down hotel, that probably was a great hotel back in the days! Helpful and kind staff. It was lots of monkeys outside hotel and we were told to be careful and never leave doors and windows open! Fun

Great staff, comfy stay, small room (rm #108)

Three people occupied the room for $102/- and the hotel provided us with 2 twin beds and a single bed. The room had a mini bar, Dialog Cable TV with 6-7 local channels (English/Sinhala/Tamil), on-and-off wifi (consistent in the lounge), 2 bed-sides, dresser/desk, a wardrobe, and a balcony facing the mountains. The bathroom was fair-sized and had a shower cubicle. Water heated up in seconds. They could improve the condition of the bathroom a bit. Although it was clean and tidy, water leaked to the bathroom from the shower cubicle. The air conditioner worked just fine but the fan didn't generate any wind - flaps aren't tilted properly. We didn't have a good view of the scenary although the hotel is located in a very scenic area in Kandy surrounded by mountains. You may request a room with a good view. The staff was extremely courteous and professional. The breakfast was good and they even offered to make an omlette. Breakfast included sausage, bacon, bread (different types), fruits, cereal, milk, juice etc. The restaurant has a great view of the mountains and the valleys. A trishaw (tuk-tuk) is available upon request and will charge LKR 200/- to get to the city centre/train station. It is difficult to walk to the hotel from the city unless you are comfortable with hiking/walking up the hills. it was a comfortable and quiet stay.

Bei näherem Hinsehen, ist das Hotel Senani weit weniger schick, als es verspricht, zu sein. Hatte erst ein sehr abgewohntes Zimmer im unteren Geschoss. Nach Bitte um Zimmerwechsel, erhielt ich zwar ein hübscheres ZImmer, leider mit Bettwanzen - mit dem relativ hohen Preis überhaupt nicht zu vereinbaren!!! Das Personal war sehr freundlich und sehr bemüht. Das Hotel hat einen schönen und sauberen Pool. Leider fehlen Informationsmaterial / Informationen / Tourenvorschläge für Individualreisende komplett.
