This hotel was not open when we got there. I had no alerts from Orbits and had to have local Rwandans help us figure out how to transfer hotels. Horrible communication for this as we traveled very far to stay here and booked well in advance.

A perfect place for holiday

I had a nice time in Marasa Umubano hotel. The hotel has a serene environment and easily accessible. Although the hotel is an old one, thr rooms are comfortable and the breakfast meal was hot and fresh. The staffs were humble and willing to provide support. The airport shuttle was available to drop off at the airport

Junior Suite on the 5th Floor. Beautiful view with nice breeze in the afternoon; clean, comfortable, well maintained. Very pleasant garden and swimming pool. Good breakfast and lunch.

Fully booked!

When I arrived at the reception desk, I was advised that the hotel was fully booked. Expedia did not inform me before hand. While standing around in the entrance foyer of the hotel, waiting to be relocated to some other accommodation, I noticed that the ceiling area of the foyer was dusty/dirty looking and could definitely do with a refreshing clean up. Further, the walls and the colours of paint on the wall made the place rather uninviting, again a good refurb/refresh is needed.

Disappointing

very disappointing. The gardens are very nice but thats about it. The hotel is in very poor condition and needs pulling down quite urgently, facilities are limited although in its favour the gym isnt bad. The worst feature is that the hotel staff are poorly trained and those at reception and in the business centre are actually quite rude. I only stayed here because I couldnt get in anywhere else and I would never do so again.

Overnight in Kigali

We very much enjoyed our overnight stay, and appreciated having our room ready when we arrived about 10am. We had stayed before, and made the most of the pool area, the restaurant and the bakery. Good value for money!

Not bad for Africa

But it is expensive, I paid $250/day, which is very expensive if in the USA and they don't include free breakfast and dinner with that. In Jamaica I can get all inclusive at that price. The food was good and it has a gym. No mosquitos, no filth. It has a safe. I would stay there again, unless i can find it cheaper.

Needs a face-lift!

I've stayed at the Umubano numerous times...used to be my favorite hotel in Kigali. But, it is serious run down. Staff are also helpful, but not very polite. There is a gym, but most of the equipment is old. The breakfast was mostly left-overs from the night before (stay away from the hotel breakfast offerings!). The rooms on the front are extremely noisy (road noise). I think there are better options in Kigali....

The staff were very warm and welcoming. The grounds (pool, tennis courts) are lovely. The rooms are fine, but not what you would expect for the price.

I really enjoyed the tennis, pool, gym and overall the garden of the hotel is beautiful. The room was a bit old and should renovated and also not super clean as to expect from a high class hotel. No aircon though it was not hot.
