One the the best in Japan

This was our last stay on our 28 day holiday in Japan and was a wonderful way to finish. Our room on the 3rd floor had a wonderful view, despite Sakurajima being mostly hidden for the 3 days we were there. Staff were all very helpful and friendly and many of them spoke a little bit of English. The kaiseki dinners provided an excellent variety but an english menu would have been helpful. We experienced 2 of the 4 private onsens available on site. There was no additional fee for this, but they book out very quickly, particularly in the evening. There is a toilet and shower in the room, but the hot water is very slow to arrive, so shower at the onsen's is the recommended option. This was an excellent secluded location to enjoy hiking in the Kirishima Kinkowan NP or a day trip to Kagoshima.

When checking out, the stuff gave us a few masks as gifts. The onsen is really nice especially the family onsen and the foot onsen.

Staff are so friendly and understand English well. High quality of food and hot spring are impressive. The hotel sounds traditional but is well maintained. Will book again if I go to Kirishima again.

I really like the staff and the environment. The walk around the property is a great experience. The outdoor onsen is a must do! The walk to the falls is so exciting that no kid should be allowed to do it by themselves.

The hotel is really old, but everything is is good condition. We enjoyed the private soaking, with lots of privacy and in the midst of nature. The walk into the woods was pleasant and the fresh morning air was delightful!

Retro Ryokan with great Rotenburo
We arrived by bus at Maruo 1 Bus Stop, called and the Ryokan came to pick us up in ~5 minutes. Very efficient. They had Mandarin and Korean speaking staff. The "public" Rotenburo had open and great view. Meals were served in a big dining room (with that price we weren't expecting our private dining room anyway). Food was nice but not great, but the serving staff was very friendly. The real bonus was the "free" 45-minute private session in one of their outdoor onsens. Soaking on my own at 6 am at Momiji-no-yu, a tiny semi-covered rotenburo facing a "wood" of trees was the best part of my stay! Unfortunately with the heavy rain we didn't do the 15-minutes walk to the waterfall nearby the Ryokan. Although the Ryokan seemed a little dated (it's overall over 100 years' old), I like their retro feel and it's very good value for money. This time I brought along my parents. Next time, I will come back bringing my husband and our girls ;p

A Very Relaxing Stay
We had a very pleasant stay. Staff were all very friendly. Catering staff were also courteous and although they did not speak much English, they tried very hard to explain how to consume each dish. The Japanese style room was clean and the tatami was comfortable. The amenities provided were very good. The environment is very tranquil, which made it a very relaxing stay for us. I would stay here again if I visit Kirishima in the future.

Very nice stay. Good service and friendly staffs. Enjoy the Onsen. Good view from our room. Good not bad and could be better if there were more vegetables. Love to recommend this place to others who want to relax and enjoy the nature.

Nice stay in Kirishima with lovely views and onsen
Service was courteous as expected for any traditional Japanese establishment. They were responsive to our requests to booking the private open-air onsen and food allergy. The onsens were amazing and the views from the hotel of the Sakurajima should be among the best in the area. Facilities all very well maintained.

Excellent Traditional Japanese Hot Spring Hotel
Free transfer from the hotel nearby bus stop, excellent staff services and arrangement, good breakfast and dinner without repetition, dishes display like a artwork, Onson can be private and different selection. Hotel is 100 years ago but with good maintenance, new renovation in some areas, good views, spacious room, luxury display and furniture. Wifi is o.k. and staff is helpful and professional.

the hotel staff is very nice, they try their best to communicate with us in English. i stayed two nights there and i can book private hotspring with my wife everyday for 45 minutes. when i hike on their trail, i saw a group of deer jump in the forest. amazing experience

휴식을 만끽했던 온천 체류
오래되었지만 깨끗하게 관리되었고 자연 친화적인 욕장과 숲 경관이 아주 훌륭했습니다. 유황온천물도 훌륭했고 사쿠라지마섬과 먼 바다가 보여 좋았습니다. 손님 요구에 빠르게 대처해 서비스는 나무랄데 없었고 호텔의 레트로한 분위기도 편안하게 머물수 있도록 했습니다. 다시 오고 싶은 곳입니다.
