The Su-27 (NATO code name โ€˜Flankerโ€™) is an amazingly agile interceptor that is among the best of the world in dogfighting, despite its impressive size. It was developed during the 1980s in what was then the Soviet-Union in response to American fighters like the F-15, F-16 and F-18. The SU-27 is the pride of the Ukrainian air force, a country that is part of the โ€˜Partnership for Peaceโ€™ with NATO and is as such also a partner to the Belgian air force.
