"Clean and comfortable room. So glad I booked a room with castle view. We had the Superior Twin Room, 23m2. The view was just amazing! And we got to see the castle at different times of the day. The hotel offers welcome drinks. Not just standard drinks but hot chocolate, too! Thank you! The breakfast room also has view of the castle! So nice!! Buffet breakfast has standard items plus dishes using local ingredients (or famous local dishes?) For example, miso soup with pork and pumpkin, rice mixed with squid, Swiss roll with sweet potato, apple caramel cake and mochi with red bean. No other hotel we stayed in had these. Compliments to the chefs! On top of that, there was a Kyushu Food Festival on at the Fukuyama Castle grounds the weekend we were there. We got to experience that. So lucky. Joining in to do morning exercises before sunrise in front of the castle was another memorable experience!! "

"After a couple of days wending my way from Onomichi to Imabari on the Shimanami Kaido the Shimanami Prime Hotel Imabari proved to be a great choice for my final night in the Seto Inland Sea area. It’s conveniently located just a short walk from the Imabari train station where both the regular bike rental station and the Giant store are located, and where I had to board the highway bus back to Fukuyama the next morning. Check-in was easy and once I did the staff informed me my bags had been dropped off already by Sagawa transport - which was great since that let me freshen up before dinner. Imabari offers plenty of dining options but I had to sample the local “buta-niku” specialty rice bowl and one of the best places in town happens to be near the Prime Hotel. Called Hakurakuten, it’s only a five minute walk away and just as someone had described to me the rice bowl and the karaage on the side were absolutely excellent. Soaking in the hotel’s onsen was a great way to unwind after dinner before turning in. The room itself was typical Japanese business hotel – small but functional. Just right for one night though with the small amount of luggage I had brought. The morning breakfast buffet was another highlight with plenty of choices and very delicious food. After filling up I reluctantly had to bid goodbye to this lovely area of Japan and had to bid goodbye to this lovely area of Japan and head back to Tokyo but I’ve already vowed to return for a longer visit in the future. "This location is right next to Saijo station - an excellent place to stay with quick access to Sakagura street to visit all of the sake breweries. My only complaint is there’s only one elevator for the whole hotel so for events like the Saijo Sake Matsuri it takes a long time to get to and from your room, and the breakfast area becomes very crowded. they do have a washer and dryer which I used twice very convenient very efficient. The coffee maker was broken for two of the three days I stayed so that was a bummer. I wish they could’ve given everyone ¥200 to go to the 7-Eleven for coffee or just brew it in the kitchen!"
