Stayed with my boyfriend, excellent location! Very clean and super helpful staff. The amenities were great and if you need more the lobby has extra you can pick up. This stay had everything we needed and I would definitely stay here again! stay here again
Our stay at the Shijo Takakura Hotel grandreverie was great! It was the most memorable room of our trip to Japan, a great design and lots of space. The stone shower and bathtub were especially luxury. The staff was incredibly attentive. It's the one place we'd immediately go again!
The hotel was amazing with a tub that I used to relax in after walking several miles. The only thing I could complain about is that there was not a stool in the bathroom to sit while I showered but other than that the hotel was perfect in every way.
Location, staff, and cleanliness were great. The room was large enough for my family (4 adults total). Could not say enough about the location, it was perfect stay
We had an amazing stay! Excellent service , beautiful room. Highly Recommend if you are looking for a super cool and high end experience.
Staff was incredibly thoughtful and kind.
We loved our stay here. Definitely recommend.
The staff is amazing, helpful and always looking to make you feel welcome.
The place is quiet, clean and comfortable.
Very close to Gion and the market.
Many dining options near by.
The staff at the hotel was friendly and very helpful. The room was lovely and spacious, with every convenience. The location was great - walking distance to the Kabuki Theater, many nice shops and the Nishiki market.
This was the most beautiful hotel we stayed at in japan. The attention to detail is incredible. The staff was extremely helpful when needed. The room was huge and layout was awesome. Hotel has a awesome bar right in lobby that makes delicious cocktails. Its right by alot of awesome stuff too. Everything is walking distance. Nishiki market and shopping areas in only a short block away. Amazing area to stay in Kyoto. Our favorite stop so far.
We loved our stay. One of the best experience in our travels.
Staff is amazing and helpful.
The place is clean, well kept in a nice quiet neighborhood not to far from the Market and Gion where will be a lot of people.
It is nice to be here.
The breakfast is very balance and delicious.
We definitely will stay again here.
Amazing hotel in the heart of Kyoto. Impeccable service. Central to so many trains and subways. Restaurants everywhere. Great spot to kick off a visit to Kyoto. Five-stars for sure!
Excellent location. About 5 min subway ride from Kyoto station and 4min walk to subways and buses. 3min walk to nishiki market. Ton of restaurants walking distance. Hotel is very clean, rooms are spacious and bathrooms are modern and new. Hotel staff are very courteous, speak ver well English and go out of their way answer questions on tourist attractions, restaurants and sites to visit. Loved our stay and will definitely come back.
We chose this hotel for its excellent location and its boutique feel. Room was very small and hardly fit 2 small sized guests. Good amenities and clean. Hotel required us to deposit room key every time we left hotel and picked up from the one person manned reception when back to hotel. When reception person was absent, the lobby bar tender helped. On our last day, we were in a hurry to go back up to hotel room after breakfast outside to do final packing. It was about 10:30am. There was nobody in the lobby and we had no key to our room. We waited for 15 min, calling and knocking on every door with no success. Then the receptionist appeared from the elevator. He was upstairs collecting dirty dishes from in room dining. He did apologize but we were quite furious with his bad service already as we were in a hurry. Coming down, the checkout was quick, but the reception failed to call a taxi for us for 10 min. We ended up hailing a taxi from outside the hotel ourselves. Overall, service level was incompetent and poor. Also, the street was filled with rowdy diners the Friday evening we arrived, way into around midnight. We do NOT recommend this hotel!!
The hotel is small-ish but the room is definitely big enough for a great stay! My wife and daughter and myself stayed in the delux twin room for 5 nights and had a great time. And yes, I can confirm that everything good other reviewers on Trip Advisor have stated is true and more. A great overall experience indeed.
Will most-likely stay there again next time we visit Kyoto.
I highly recommend Kyoto Shijo Takakura. Location is fantastic with many restaurants nearby. It’s a few mins away from Shijo train station and buses as well as an easy walk to Gion and Nishiki market. Our room was spacious and had great amenities. I can’t say enough about the staff - so friendly and helpful, we absolutely loved our stay.
The hotel is conveniently located close to very happening street near the bus stops and Daimaru department store. Hotel itself is very clean and the room is spacious, and the front desk is very helpful. There's only one thing the guests need to be aware of, the bathroom of family suite is located in the lower level of the room and the stairs might be little bit steep for older people, that's something to consider if you are traveling with seniors.
Exceptional service at a small boutique hotel. Exceptionally clean, and convenient. Excellent toiletries, with restock of everything on a daily basis. Comfortable beds. Refined and attentive service. There is both coffee and tea in room as well as in lobby, as well as cookies in the lobby. Well located - walking distance to subway and buses and two quick subway stations away from Kyoto train station.
