"Top notch place to stay, but what makes it special is the bucolic environment within which it sits. Drinks and dinner across the narrow road, with waiting staff navigating the occasional logging truck is not something you see everyday, made for a very memorable summer evening."
"This is a beautiful historic property with lovely grounds to enjoy. The staff were welcoming and helpful and made it a relaxing experience. The room was spacious and well furnished. Breakfast was delicious with a good range of quality food.
I was disappointed by dinner. The waitress gave us some incorrect information about nibbles (the peppers were not padron), the bottled water was overpriced and the food was good but not special. Overall I’d still recommend as an enjoyable experience."
"Located centrally in the town with excellent parking. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Was nice to sit outside under the beautiful wisteria and enjoy a drink in the evening sun. Brasserie food was excellent. Breakfast was really nice also. A great base for exploring."
"Safest accommodation we have ever stayed in. Very quite rural location yet very near shops. No need to lock your room and car! No formal check in; your key is hanging on your door upon arrival. Loved the home baked muffins and the freshly made coffee in the morning."
"A beautiful hotel in a lovely location. We stayed here for 4 nights in a Superior double room. The room had recently been refurbished. The bathroom was huge and very clean. The room itself was very nice with views across to the Beacons at the rear. Having the DAB radio on Radio3 was a nice touch when we arrived. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and professional. We paid extra for breakfast, and we dined in 2 nights too. Food was very good. Parking was ok but a little limited for the number of rooms. There is on-street parking close by and the Promenade car park is free 6pm-8am.
Note: if you happen to have seen The Hotel Inspector episode from over 18 years ago with Alex Polizzi that features this hotel, please don’t be put off. Time has worked wonders. It is unrecognisable from then. I believe it’s now owned by The Coaching Inn Group. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again."
"Lovely staff and room was very clean. Bed was super comfy, but disappointed pillows had no pillow protectors. Breakfast was a bit limited for the cost (£12), but the cooked was very tasty and good quality. I would stay here again"
