Slovenia is full of remarkable places to visit. A few hours northeast of Ljubljana, the capital, lies a region of alpine valleys that will take your breath away. I took this photo shortly after sunrise on the ridge between two of those valleys.

Having your own set of wheels certainly makes getting around this area a lot easier. For accommodation I'd recommend Luce, a small town a stone's throw away from the action, where there are a few options.

The trails can be hard to locate and very slippery when covered with snow so tread carefully or, preferably, wait until it disappears.

"We spent a fantastic stay at Velika Planina (one night in a chalet). Fantastic atmospher, specially on the evening. Our host Rok was very kind and helpful anytime. It is very easy to communicate with him. We recommend this place at 100 %. "

"Nous n’avons pas eu d’informations part rapport à notre arrivée. Pas de code pour le coffre à clé ! Heureusement que la femme de ménage avait du retard, ce qui nous a permis d’accéder au logement. Chalet dans son jus méritant un coup de frais. Mauvaise communication concernant les frais de linge. Nous avons eu la mauvaise surprise d’avoir la visite un matin d’une personne venant nous réclamer ces frais (79€!!). L’annonce est aussi trompeuse part rapport au nombre de sdb. "We come to Slovenia ever couple of years to visit family and stay in our family cabin. Hotel Alex was such a pleasant surprise. Large room, incredible breakfast! We didn’t have dinner in the restaurant but we are sure it was also Wonderful. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful! There is even a small store within walking distance or a short 2 min drive. The proximity to the airport and Lake Bled as well as Ljubljana is perfect. We will stay here again on a future trip!"

"I was very pleasantly surprised with how amazing this place was! The lodging is above a very nice restaurant, that was very easy to get to with an abundance of parking spots. The room was very nice, and I could tell they went above and beyond with providing any utility I could possibly need while away from home. The complimentary breakfast was incredible. I’d definitely come back again. "
