Many shops walking distance and steps away from the metro. It could be a loud neighborhood at night. Staff were great with a 24/7 night watch.

It was clean and the staff were very friendly - if it wasn't for that there would be no stars. That is where it ends. If you want to get a good nights sleep do not stay here. The first room I was given had a terrible cigarette smell - i was moved and the next room was better. Both rooms were on ground level and the noise from the street was very loud all night long. The second night the gentleman working must have had a serious disturbance as there was yelling and crying - but being scared for my safety I stayed in my room until morning. Definitely overpriced and I will not return.

OK value for money

Location-wise, it was great, with the metro station just there, and using the metro system super easy access from the airport, and it was easy to get around the city from there. The motel itself was a bit dirty, had obvious signs of age and could benefit from a proper deep clean. That being said, I didn't see anything alarming - no bed bugs, no insects, nothing that would be a problem. So, it's a rundown place, but at the price point of 50 euros a night, I feel it'll be as good as one can expect in the middle of the city. FYI: bring earplugs as it's a kinda noisy area.

The hotel is very dirty. The shower was broken when I arrived and I had to change rooms because once the shower was fixed and I could take a shower, doing so caused the water to leak into the room. The surrounding area is quite dangerous, which is not the fault of the hotel of course, but something to consider. The staff are nice and friendly and the location is close to Atocha Train Station and Puerta del Sol.

The property is conveniently located near shopping (Carrefour), metro Lavapies and not too far from Calle de Atocha from which is fairly easy to get to Museo Reina Sofia, El Rastro, Mercado de San Fernando and multiple restaurants in between. The shared bathroom (aseos) was new to me and the room assigned to me (#14) faced the street which at street level made it noisy throughout the night. The staff was friendly and helpful with questions and suggestions. The property is a modest motel, so there should be no expectations on anything but the basic for a one night stay: the bathroom was clean for it being a shared amenity and the room and linen were impeccably clean.

It was very low on conveniences and very rudimentary. 1 thin towel, cold room, hair dryer with little to no heat, BUT the price was minimal and the staff was kind and gave me a space heater, the price was right, in a neighborhood with everything one needs. No one would confuse it with a five star hotel but worth the cost and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

We stayed at Motel Lavapiés for two nights. Here’s my review: Location: The location is convenient, close to many shops and restaurants, and within a 15-20 minute walk to more vibrant areas. Facilities: We booked two rooms with the expectation of a shared bathroom between them, but it turned out the bathroom was shared by all the rooms on the floor. If you’re particular about hygiene, this might not be the best option. The rooms themselves are average, and there is a shared fridge and microwave available for all guests. Noise: The most frustrating part of the stay was the noise. Both nights were filled with loud noises and shouting, which made it difficult to sleep.

The hotel could have done better to make the stay more comfortable and enjoyable. I was first given a room where the wifi was non-existent. They did move me to a room where the wifi was better so that was appreciated. However, the bed was so large that you couldn't enter it from the sides. This was manageable but just odd. The main complaint was that the hotel is located in a busy area with a lot of car noise and nightlife. This meant a lot of light. The window shades were so thin that they didn't block any light at all and you could practically read without the lights on. I brought this to their attention and the man went to look and said that there were curtains. I agreed and said that they were so thin that they were totally ineffective. It was very difficult to get a night of sleep. The staff was friendly and all that, but a bit more concern for these little things would have gone a long way.

I had a very unpleasant experience during my stay. While staying at the hotel, I felt bites while lying in the bed, but I initially didn’t think much of it. Today, after leaving the hotel, the bites have become much more noticeable and itchy. I am concerned that there may have been bed bugs in the mattress. This experience has been very uncomfortable, and I believe the hotel should thoroughly inspect the beds and rooms to prevent other guests from experiencing the same problem. I would not feel comfortable staying here again.

Actually we took one look and smell and left. The sheets looked clean but on the whole VERY rundown and of course the smell I think it was attempted to being masked by strongly scented cleaners which only compounded the issue I simply couldn’t breathe in the room. The staff were good about it why not they had our money. This accommodation should NOT BE DISPLAYED ON ANY BOOKING PLATFORM!!!!!

I don’t like writing negative reviews but on this occasion, I feel strongly that others should know what to expect here. The photos on Expedia are very misleading. The area has an uneasy feel to it and the outside of the hotel was a disgrace. I was immediately anxious when we arrived and saw the state of the building. The man who booked us in was friendly enough but that’s the only remotely positive thing I can say about this stay. We were in a basement room - there is a definite damp smell but it’s not overpowering. The room, however.. there is no kettle, no amenities. We had to ask for a hand towel. There were dirty marks all over the bedroom walls, although the bed itself was clean. The bathroom was clean but again, dated and in a poor condition (the door didn’t close properly and the paint was peeling badly). The ‘window’ is a brick wall with a very small section of window at the top which is essentially the alleyway above/outside - there is activity and disturbances throughout the night and alot of noise. We walked out of the hotel in the evening and saw drug dealing taking place openly. If you’re looking for a ‘cheap’ (it’s only cheap in Madrid terms - actually well-overpriced considering the condition) bed for the night and are happy to rough it, this will suit. However, be prepared for a very basic, poorly maintained property in an area that does not feel particularly safe. We paid for three nights but left after two, which I suspect is common.

The area was ok and close to the metro. The basement room was very poor. Very noisy from passing pedestrians. It wasn't easy to move around the room. The shower leaked into the bathroom. Couldn't open the wardrobe as was too close to the bed. No signal on the TV. Bed tipped up when sitting on one side. Found a cockroach in the bathroom. Unpleasant smell. Nice bedding on the bed. Staff were nice.
