Overall it is a good hotel for staying in Ikaho, will consider to come back next time when visit Ikaho.
That would be nice if the hot spring area for lady has more protection.
I was surprised to see a Ryokan listed. This type of “ hotel” usually charges by the person not the room and it’s expensive. I was so excited to get such a great deal but turns out it was not. The price seemed low at first for a room including breakfast but they hid the cost of the breakfast in the service charge, and extra fees. And then they tried to charge us again for the entire stay. We waited ten minutes for them to figure out we already paid. And finally they said we owed another $ 25 because our daughter was 13 and considered an adult. The Ryokan business does not fit into this hotels.com app. Children are only considered children if they are in elementary school, but the hotels.com app requires we put the age in not the grade so the cost was not correct.
The bathtub in the room was boarded up so you had to take a bath in the public bath which was nice, but some people might not like that. The ryokan is old but I did not mind, my children liked the old style phone. The room staff was friendly and they made our breakfast slightly different because of food allergies and that was very kind of them. It was a nice place to stay but not the bargain we had thought.
Good hotel and wonderful services.
I had a series of bad luck in my trip and I am very thankful to the great assistance and considerate services offered by the hotel.
My father fell unconscious due to his health condition in the evening. The hotel manager called the ambulance immediately and made the arrangement to send him to hospital. The manager speak English well and did the translation for us. The hotel manager waited with us at the hospital till 10:30pm. Thanks to the prompt and quality medical services, my father regained conscious. The hotel manager drove us back to the hotel. When we arrived, the japan style full course dinner has been ready in dinning room and all the servers waited for us till this late time at night. My family also had a good rest in the clean and well conditioned room.
In my second day, my car engine could not be started off due to the weak battery. I called car rental company but it did not seem to help. The hotel manager also came and helped me to restart the engine so that I could drove my father back home as soon as possible.
Their hot spring bath is located at the top floor. Though it is indoor, it had a big window, which have a landscape view of Ikaho Onsen. The public bath is clean and well conditioned.
