"Excellent, authentic NY Hotel. Not part of the big chain hotels. Excellent location. Friendly staff. Great restaurants. Don’t get too excited about the free grab and go breakfast. I mean, it’s ok for free. But don’t make that a part of your decision. "
"My toilet in room 3924 would not flush I had to pee so bad but had to wait for someone to come and plunge the toilet because it would not flush!!!!! Horrible experience I ever had holding my pee until someone came to fix the problem. The refrigerator also had residue in it. "
"The staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful, administering to all our requests happily. After the end of our one night stay, my son and I wanted to go on a ferry around the New York coast to see the statue of liberty. The tour ended at one so it meant we could only get back to check out at one thirty, and the staff did not charge us extra. Also, we needed to go to the Greyhound bus terminal and had lots of heavy luggage, and one of the staff gladly helped carry some of our luggage. He also guided us to the terminal. A rooms were small but otherwise clean and tidy. Very nice hotel!"
"Couldn’t access hotel street closed had to park 3 blocks away dirty room sheets dirty garbage in night stand no concierge found and on check out had to walk down 10 flights of stairs with luggage terrible stay never again "
"There was duct tape holding the bathroom vanity together and the towel hook in the bathroom was barely hanging on. E didn’t have any body wash on the first night."
"My wife and I stayed for 3 nights, we were trying out a new hotel as we visit the UWS frequently. The desk staff was very helpful and friendly, the housekeeping even more so. The room was pretty dated, and our sheets were literally torn and fraying everywhere which was really surprising for the cost and 4 star rating. Gym was tiny.
What I really felt like I had to mention is the door men. Specifically the last one we interacted with. The last morning we were checking out and left 5 bags with the staff for a few hours.
When we were leaving, I left to get the car and my wife stayed to get the bags. Initially the doorman just dumped all the bags in front of the bag check and she moved them to the side while she waited for me. When I pulled up she had to awkwardly ask the doorman for help, and when he finally moved to do so complained to her that our bag was really heavy. She was left with the bigger bags and he expected her to open the door for the two of them.
Standing in the loading zone, he dropped the two bags on the wet side walk (it had been raining all morning) and asked “so is that all” as I was running around loading our suitcases into the trunk and my wife was holding two bags herself. He very dramatically threw his arms in the air, throwing a tantrum we weren’t immediately ready to hand him a tip and left. While yes it wasn’t the worst thing ever to happen, it really soured our experience not just at the hotel, but the whole trip :( "
