What a beautiful place. Clean, quiet, organized and very comfortable. Breakfast was awesome with plenty of local cheese, fruits, jellies and pastries. Strongly recommend this place.

We received a very warm welcome and the service throughout was fantastic. The room was cozy, clean and special. The breakfast was great. I enjoyed the thoughtfulness of the locally sourced ingredients. Overall Matera is a magical place to visit and Fra i Sassi was a special place to spend the night.

We love where the hotel is centrally located, the staff is very helpful (especially Maria Angela she helped us with the tour and restaurant reservation). Room is what it was describe, clean sheets and bathroom.

Clean and spacious, well located, if you can find it. Forget use of GPS/google maps. Hotel doesn’t give you great directions/support and hard to reach. Probably similar properties same value but a little better. Bed was awful. Bathroom unnecessarily huge, tub ginormous and hard to get into, terrible hand shower. Breakfast was good. Beautiful, unique town, a must see!!

Unique hotel

Our stay was lovely. Our room was at the very top of the complex (about 75 steps up) so we struggled with a bags. The lady who ran the place actually carried mine which was nice but i wish there was a note in the room description as i avoid these rooms. The view was snagging though. Also, our room was not serviced during our 2 day stay which was also disappointing. I found this unusual for the style and other service at the property.

This is a unique property in the middle of antic city Matera. Beautiful views from the windows to die for, location, etc. Hotel is in excellent condition, furniture, room design, etc. Breakfast is very good. Great options for fine food in the area. You need to be prepare to walk a lot in the city of Matera with steps up and down including to and from hotel. If you can not walk - it is not for you. Parking (free or paid) is on the street within 10-15 min or so walking. Finding can be a problem. Do not bring large car unless you planning to park in some private parking and take taxi to hotel. We had Fiat 500 and it was great. Hotel can arrange transportation too. Just call them. We left our suite cases in the trunk of the car and walked to hotel with small backpacks. it was perfect.

Spacious cave room with a nice bathroom within walking distance of everything. An excellent breakfast. Remember that you can’t park here and must park outside of the zone on the street. Matera is amazing.

One Night in Matera!

The total experience was excellent. We were in Room 12 and the view was worth every penny. The staff were very nice and helpful. The coffee and breakfast in the morning were excellent. You must stay here!
