This property was amazing! We had a large room that was very comfortable with a fabulous bath. Check in was easy and every staff member encountered was kind and knowledgeable. The snacks provided in the room were a welcomed convenience. The location was excellent and we had so much fun exploring Matera every day. I would definitely stay at this property again.

Well worth a visit

Not a full hotel. Almost self catering but lovely fully refreshed fridge and breakfast every day. We had a lovely private terrace. The apartment is beautifully situated for easy access to Sassi and also new Matera

My husband loved our stay at this hotel! The room was spotless and spacious. We enjoyed the included breakfast, and the hotel is in a great location. The staff is very friendly, and parking outside the ZTL zone was easy to find. I totally recommend staying here.

We stayed in one of the cave rooms- clean, quiet. A good selection of food for breakfast choices in our room- topped up daily. A fascinating old quaint town. I did the walk to one of the caves across the valley which was hard work but interesting. Lots of good restaurants nearby . Recommend this Hotel.

Great Sassi stay

The host at reception gave us a brief tour and explained the city to us. Our room was stocked so we could simply have breakfast there. Also the Lucany restaurant beside our place was amazing. Highly recommend

Matera is a very special place. It is difficult to find another city in the world with a landscape like this. Staying in the Sassi, the old cave houses, is something you really should do to enjoy the full experience. I stayed at San Giorgio Hotel, and it was exactly what I hoped for. It was a special experience, something I will always remember. I really recommend it to anyone who wants to try this kind of stay. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere felt real and traditional, and the room was big and comfortable. Everything made me feel like I was living a dream.

The Sassi in Matera is one of the most beautiful and surprising places I've ever been to. To stay in a hotel like San Giorgio is a unique and amazing experience, which is hard to describe: you sleep in a cave (which, against all expectation, is super confortable), have an amazing breakfast in the room, and walk around at any moment (sunrise or sunset), allowing yourself to get lost and to discover the city once and again. I can't recommend the experience enough.

Everything was excellent! Breakfast items were already in our room and the refrigerator was stocked! The only issue one might have is getting your luggage to and from your room. We were lucky enough to have Luigi help us with our luggage because it wasn’t too busy. If you have to do it yourself, lots of rocky steps. You can’t roll your bags, you have to lift it. Luigi was extremely helpful along with the other staff!! Highly recommend this hotel!
