You have to stay here. Boutique hotel tucked away in the incredible medieval streets of Mdina. Rooftop restaurant with a view and a pool.

We couldn't be any happier with our stay at Palazzo Bifora. The room was spotlessly clean, the hotel staff was gracious and helpful, excellent restaurants are located nearby, and the beauty of Mdina (especially at night) was stunning.

We loved this hotel. The room and location was amazing, but what ended up making our stay really special was when something went awry with the room—the staff was *outstandingly* helpful, going above and beyond, and it really made our stay exceptional. Highly recommended!

The hotel is charming and right in the walled part of town. The room was clean and comfortable though not particularly roomy. The service was excellent. The breakfast which is included was delicious and substantial. I would be happy to stay there again.

The hotel was amazing. It felt special to stay in this city. Highly recommend it. We met Omar the owner and he told us this used to be his family home, which he took 12 years to renovate. It’s amazing ! We debated on staying in Rabat and glad we chose not too. You get a different and better experience to stay directly in this city. Walking around after dark there are not many people and the city looks enchanting. We ate two times at Fontenella Tea Garden for breakfast. Also ate at Coogie’s and AD 1530… great choices. The Medina Restaurant looked nice as well with a guitar player in the evening. We sat on the rooftop one afternoon but did not get a chance to use the pool. Looked great though.

Review “Style over Substance” We stayed at Palazzo Bifora 10-12 September 2026. The hotel is housed in a beautiful old building right in the heart of Mdina. There are only 6 rooms and superficially at least the hotel has been refurbished to a high standard. Each room is described as a suite, some may be bigger than our’s. Our ‘suite’, Mesquita, was tiny. So small in fact you cannot even fully open the wardrobe and it is only just possible to walk into the bathroom without turning sideways! The bathroom suffered from a lack of attention to detail. The toilet seat was loose. There was permanent and very unappealing stain in the toilet below the water line. A lot of the fittings were quite loose. On two occasions during our short stay there was no hot water. The lovely Skypool heavily featured on the website…..it is there, but be advised firstly it is NOT exclusive to the hotel, and secondly it shares a space with their quite busy restaurant. So if you want to spend some time relaxing by your hotel’s pool you need to choose your moment carefully. Breakfast at €25 a head sort of sums the place up. Beautifully presented, but insubstantial, and pretty poor value. (incidentally we took all these points up with the hotel directly frankly they were indifferent)

Absolutely stunning property, with wonderful & very helpful staff. My room was beautiful, and the bathroom was even better, full under floor heating, huge rain shower, could not fault it. It was my first time travelling since my husband passed away, i felt incredibly safe & well looked after in the hotel My only two negatives was that the red light on the tv stayed on constantly, i love a dark room to sleep in, but with the tv being directly opposite the bed it was annoying and maybe swap the mini bar fridge which given how quite and luxurious the room is, the fridge motor was very loud, even when shut behind a door. Overall i still think the hotel, room & staff are absolutely lovely, id have no hesitation recommending or returning!

If honeymooning on Malta you should definetley stay here in the silent city some nights. Beautiful hotel and surroundings and the most precious staff. We should have planned a longer stay.

Generally not good value for money. The room is was super tiny, was not able to open a bigger suitcase properly. The system of lights automatically turning on during night when someone uses the bathroom is smart but also annoying for the other person in the room and we did not find a way to turn it off.

The best thing about this stay was Priscila's service. She made the whole experience special. Priscila took care of every detail of our stay, especially in providing us with information and options for places to stay in Mdina. The rooms have a touch of luxury and comfort that surprised us. Best hidden gem in Mdina old city

The hotel was absolutely so charming from the start. It is truly a hidden gem in an already romantic setting however the staff the decor, the attention to detail, the food the ambience everything was truly amazing and exceeded our expectations. On a hot July day of sightseeing the pool was the best way to end of our day. We spent a good few hours the next morning chilling by the pool before heading off. Priscilla and Maria and just every single staff member that we encountered were only too happy to ensure our stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I would highly recommend the hotel and I’m most certainly coming back. The food in the restaurant is to die for. I can highly recommend the prawns and the rack of lamb. I still dreaming about it. Absolutely delicious.

Small, boutique hotel delightfully located within the ancient walled city of Mdina. The city is very quiet after 7pm. Only a couple of hotels inside. A few restaurants no bars after 7 in March which makes it so peaceful. The ancient narrow lanes of Rabat are 5 minutes outside of the walls and have plenty of eating/drinking places open late. The hotel reception closes at 8 so after that it is like staying in an apartment as no staff around. We were upgraded tp an enormous palatial room which was wonderful. Ceiling was at least 6 metres high! Bed was comfortable. Bathroom had everything you might need. The little pool on the roof is not big enough to swim in and is overlooked by restaurant tables but i imagine must be wonderful in the city in the summer heat. One of only three places with pools in Mdina. The restaurant on the roof seems a strange concept as you would have to be a guest to get through the front door after 8. We didnt use it but we did have a cocktail in the sun up there which was lovely. Staff are very sweet and courteous. If you want hotel conveniences like room service etc this is not the place but if you like a small palazzo (6 rooms) to feel like you are the only people there this is the one!! Decor is faultless. You feel privileged to be staying within the walls.
