When we got to our room we found as well as having cracks in numerous walls the room was filthy and it smelled as if someone had been smoking either in the room or on the balcony with the door open - after an hour of sitting in the room, even with the balcony door open, we felt we weren't breathing normally. We are both non-smokers and so this was very noticeable to us. It was stated on our booking confirmation that our room was non-smoking
Along with a spiderweb beside the air conditioner there was black dust around the sides and bottom of it (I didn't look on top). There was noticeable dust above the doorframes and in the bathroom.
One of the pillowcases on the bed was stained and very thin - we didn't investigate the bed any further.
As far as I could see the continental breakfast was two packets of cornflakes that were sitting on top of the microwave and they didn't look that appetising, and the thought of eating in that room - that wasn't going to happen.
We were offered another room but we just wanted to leave, it was not a pleasant experience.
The young lady at reception was very apologetic and said she would talk to the manager about a refund, although wouldn't be able to get that night refunded. We got 50% of what we paid, which we agreed at the time because we were in the heat of the moment, whereas was that enough as that room was not fit for purpose
