There is nothing 4-star about this place and at the time I booked, I chose it because its description claimed that it had a full-service spa and provided a FREE airport transfer. Nope, the spa does not exist and not only is their transfer not free, it costs almost three times what a Uber costs, for a very short ride to the airport.
They conveniently fail to mention that there is a nightclub on the premises, so I was kept awake by loud music and inebriated people talking loudly in the corridor the three nights I was there.
Anything that could go wrong in my room (219) did exactly that - fridge did not work, kettle was leaky, the the bathtub stopper had to be manually removed because the knob was purely decorative, the shower was either a pressure hose or nothing, mirror frame was held together by rusty staples, somebody obviously took a pee in my room before I arrived and didn't flush (gross) and the aircon was a mystery. I'd set it to 24° but it would keep going down to 21°. The neighbourhood is just as awful, so avoid this place like the plague, unless you intend to catch it! Totally not worth the high price at all!
* Noisy = There are dancing club on 1st floor. Many young boys&girls make huge noise and smoking. Also there are NO SOUNDPROOF. I could not sleep.
* Attitude = If there are some problem between reservation site (as Hotel.com) and hotel, the hotel should try to do their best to solve it for their clients. But they resort to all kinds of excuses. Furthermore they provide me smoking room even I reserved the non-smoking room. Terrible!!
* Clean = Once I move to non-smoking room, unpleasant smell (and Smoking smell) comes from somewhere. Furthermore, I show the cockroach in the washroom.
* Facility = Not working refrigerator (and locked automatically). Very dirty & old water boiling pot. WiFi is stopped several times in A day.
I suggest you can choose other hotel if your main purpose is not going to night club.
I just expected this hotel would be economical hotel but this is just horrible hotel.

The rooms had a weird strong smoky smell - Even though the room was on non-smoking floor. The internet WiFi never worked in the room for the two days I stayed there - when I complained couple of times, I was told they are fixing the issue but apparently it was never fixed. The food at the restaurant was good and they have it open from 7am-11pm.
I had expected a nice stay at the Peninsula Grand Hotel, both from the hotel's website and the price. I had a suite but the only benefit of that was more space. The room was not clean--the tub was mildewed and the carpet was so dirty that it turned my white socks brown when I walked around in them. The wifi was off and on, but mostly off. There were 2 televisions, but only one of them worked. There were cigarette burns on the sofa and one of the two glasses in the room was dirty. The hotel's neighborhood was not an asset (see the photo taken out my hotel window).

We requested for early checkin but the hotel duty manager denied receiving any request. Another duty manager mentioned they did receive the request but could not accommodate. Hotel was even unwilling to provide a shower facility to use.
The door key did not work upon all three occasions that we tried to enter the room. The room service took anything between 10 minutes to 30 minutes to get the room open with the master key. No attempt was made for us to change rooms or for the staff to fix the door. Extremely inhospitable.
I only had 4 hours to stay at the hotel due to an early morning flight. During that time there was a a LOUD wedding that made it imposiblen to sleep as well as horribly loud traffic. Even with an upgrade to a suite the room was full of mold and hair from previous guests. It was truly horrible! Nothing good to say.
