"Early checkin was an awful experience, we called ahead and confirmed we would like to book early checkin, we were told we could arrive at 2pm. When we arrived there was no sign of early checkin and we were told they can clean a room but they had no idea how long it would take. When returning at 3:30pm we got our room and had to pay full early checkin price.
The garden terrace was overgrown and we could barely open the door. The weed smokers in the open courtyard at night ruined the experience of sitting in a peace.
The space was nice, but there were signs of a lot of water damage."
"I think the hotel is probably fine for the money but, like many others have said, the parking charges are outrageous. The first thing you become aware of when you arrive is menacing notices strewn all over the place threatening action against you if you don't pay. It's such an unpleasant and unwelcome thing to be faced with before you've even set foot in the hotel, that it colours your entire impression of the place and says something rather nasty about who runs it. If the management had any nous they'd get rid of it and fold the cost into the room charge. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so 99% of customers have to drive and the idea that it should cost £10 per night in such a location is mean-spirited. It's really all I can remember about my stay and any other recollections I might have aren't worth mentioning because it would dilute the strength of feeling I have about this one element."
"Clean room, freindly reception staff, hardworking friendly bar and restaurant staff. We ate dinner outside from the bar menu, the food was AMAZING, hats off to the chef. Nice cold drinks for a very hot bank holiday, dig deep though if you fancy a cocktail- around £15 per drink which we feel is a little pricey.
Room was fresh and filled with air con which made the night very relaxing. Quiet setting, nice atmosphere in evening.
Made use of the spa whilst here- really nice, rooftop terrace with jacuzzi is a nice touch!
Will deffo return, thank you for a really lovely stay.
10/10"
"It wasn’t made clear when I booked that there was a wedding on. So none of the amenities were available. Literally just the room. No air-conditioning. No coffee available downstairs in the morning either about 10.30am?? Don’t recommend."
"The location is excellent, close to the centre of Cambridge and an easy walk to all the main sights. We enjoyed our stay, the staff were all very helpful but you could tell everything was a bit new, the staffing levels and stock levels let them down on a couple of occasions so service was occasionally very slow, and they ran out of some food items (pastries, flatbread etc) seemingly quite early. I’m sure these are teething problems and I look forward to coming back once the service is a bit more mature…"
